Investigating language transfer from a usage-based perspective

Aims and objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate language contact from a usage-based perspective. In particular, we test the explanatory power schematicity continuum, one central assumptions within approaches, in regard these effects. doing so, better understand how influences transfer as well learn more about cognitive mechanism itself. Design: empirical focus on native German speakers living Netherlands who tend experience lot their second Dutch German. experiment consists production task containing constructions that differ potential level (i.e., lexically specific, partially schematic, fully schematic) type they might trigger covert overt transfer).
